Welcome to our Church

We extend a warm welcome to families and individuals who are new to our Parish. Please register at the Rectory so that we can be of service to you.

Season of Lent

Dear Parishioners,

As many of you already know, the Archdiocese of the New York has mandated that all parishes suspend the public celebration of mass and other services until the end of the Coronavirus pandemic.  This will mean that Palm Sunday, the Easter Triduum, and Easter Sunday will not be offered publicly at Our Lady Help of Christians Church.

The priests have continued to offer private masses, and I have been making it available through our page on Facebook at 9am most days. Liturgies of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday will be done in private but live-streamed as much as possible.  I will post on the website the times that the masses will stream live.    It looks like in our area the ability to gather will be restricted for some weeks.  As soon as we know things can be loosened up, I will be in touch.  Until then, the church remains open for private prayer, but other parish ceremonies and business remain suspended, expect for emergencies.

Lastly, allow me to express my thanks for all those who continue to remember the parish by participating in WeShare, mailing in envelopes, or leaving envelopes in the rectory mailbox.  In this difficult time, I remain grateful for all you do to support your parish.

Know  that I miss you and you and your loved ones remain in my daily prayers.  Never forget the power of prayer in ending this time of epidemic.  We pray for healing for those who are sick, for strength for those on the front lines of this crisis, for wisdom for our leaders who have to make tough decisions, for God’s providence for those suffering from the economic impact of the crisis, and for God’s mercy that He may extend His merciful hand to end this crisis swiftly.  As we contemplate the mystery of our crucified and resurrected Lord in this most holy time of the year, we remember that the suffering of the cross led to the glory of the resurrection. It is the hope of resurrection of Christ that has the last word.  It is this hope that inspired the saints throughout the ages to face the challenges that history presented to them.  It is this hope that assures us, God’s people, that we can overcome the adversities of this present time through the grace of our Lord.

Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Fr. James Ferreira
